The healthcare residents living at Cedar Village Retirement Community in Mason, Ohio are thrilled that the Winter Semester of Opening Minds Through Art (OMA) is in full swing. This project, in partnership with the Scripps Gerontology Department at Miami University in Oxford has provided an amazing opportunity for people living with dementia the ability to create beautiful artwork with only a small amount of assistance by trained OMA volunteers. The mood is peaceful, and the residents are given the space to expand their minds in creative ways that are truly incredible. From working with sponges to other media, these pieces look like the works of professional artists. This semester, we have 6 new residents this semester who are benefiting immensely from this program.
Funds provided to Opening Minds Through Art will support the sustainability of this program for future residents living with dementia at Cedar Village.
