Hello everyone:
September 21 is the National Day of Fight for Persons with Disabilities, which is why it was the day chosen to perform the opening ceremony of the Outdoor Gym Facilities in APAE. It was exciting to cut the tape and thus, permit the use of the facilities.
So from the end of September on, the people with intellectual disabilities assisted by APAE have used the Gym Facilities daily to develop their physical activities, always properly supervised by the technical team. In the medium / long term, this work will bring important physical as well as emotional/psychological gains for this group of people.
In addition to them, their families will also benefit. Many have to accompany people with disabilities to APAE and wait until the therapies are completed to take them back home. During the waiting period, now these families will have the opportunity to exercise themselves, which is also very important. As said Mrs. Lucimara, 57, grandmother of Wesley's, 9, a student attended in the Specialized Education Program: "now it is good, because instead of sitting and waiting for my grandson, I can do physical exercises and take care of my health instead."
Or as said Lucimara, 32, mother of Peter, 1 and a half, Down Syndrome case: "I am very happy with the gym ... while my son does the therapy, I find time for working out, taking care my health and well-being. Here I find moments of joy and tranquillity ... now there are no excuses; the thing is not standing still. "
The Outdoor Gym is another feature that adds to many others already offered by APAE Valinhos, helping to enhance the autonomy and quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities, and ultimately, increase their chances of insertion in society.
Thanks to all of you for contributing to make this project a reality! I count on your help to continue publicizing this project, which still needs donations!
Best regards,
