New Beds, Desks, and Chairs at Shitie

By Overseas China Education Foundation | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Hope this letter finds you well.

We would like to introduce Shitie School to you this time. Located in the remote northeast region of Xuanhan County, Sichuan Province, Shitie village is about 80 km away from the nearest town. Therefore, for many children in the surrounding areas, Shitie School is the only available choice. With 59 teachers and 922 students, 192 in kindergarten and 730 from 1st to 12th grade, the school has been struggling financially for a long time. While the administration tried hard to reduce costs while delivering necessary resources to the students, there was only so much they can do.

Earlier this year, the school decided to reach out and work with us to renovate the classrooms and dorm rooms. The most urgent needs are new desks, chairs, and dorm beds. The current set of desks and chairs as well as dorm beds have gone through rounds of repair and come to the point that maintenance alone cannot keep them function reliably. To give the students a better learning and living environment, we installed 350 sets of desks and chairs and 150 new beds. The project, costing about $11,600, was funded entirely by you. The new furniture markedly improved the living conditions of students at Shitie and we could not have done it without your continuous kindness and support. Thank you so much.

Please stay healthy and stay safe.

Sincerely,

Overseas China Education Foundation
