Dear Donors,
Time for some wonderful news! We'd like to tell you what we've done for the children at Jieyuan.
Jieyuan School is located about thirty-five kilometers northeast of Langzhong City in Sichuan Province. Its pre-school program has eighty children, making it the largest in the region. However, having been dealing with financial difficulty for several years, Jieyuan has almost no resources to fund its pre-school program.
OCEF's volunteers initially visited Jieyuan in 2016 and since then the school has been a participant of our Library Project. However, because the project focused on reading, it was directed towards students of school age or older and did not directly benefit the children in the kindergarten. After several visits, we decided that additional funding would be necessary to create a better environment for the youngest children at Jieyuan.
Numerous studies have demonstrated the importance of play for child development and the crucial tools, toys, employed in this process. Together with the teachers at Jieyuan, we spent about $400 and selected a number of toys to place in the classrooms, including a variety of blocks and puzzles, as well as tangrams, drums, kaleidoscopes, spinning tops, yoga balls, and Orff instruments. The children were very happy to see the new toys and grew quite fond of them only in a matter of minutes. We hope that the new toys will help promote physical, intellectual, and social development of these children and thus benefit them in the long run.
Once again, thank you for your kindness and generosity. We could not have done this without your help.
Sincerely,
Overseas China Education Foundation
