About a month ago the pandemic was first reported in Kenya. The effects of this has left most families suffering. These people relied on peasant business like: selling groceries at the evening market, some work in transport businesses having almost no income at all. Most of the people in Nyalenda work during the day to be able to purchase food for dinner. no money earned means no dinner that day. There is also lack PPE. We ask for your donations to cushion them from suffering
The situation in African cities in lockdown or shutdown is completely different from those living in USA or Europe. Kenya doesn't have any compensation regulations for those who lost their jobs or income. Living in Nyalenda - the largest slum of Kisumu City (and one of the largest of Africa) - means: fetching water from the communal tab, using communal toilets and sharing a small home with many family members. These families are now in dare need of support than ever before.
The project will cushion in provision of food that includes rice, corn and beans to these vulnerable families living here in the slums. The project will also provide the protective gears like face masks, sanitizers and hand washing cans to the slum dwellers since they can't afford to buy them. Most of these families live on hand to mouth hence are not capable of having their own wash materials like soaps and sanitisers hence they risk catching the virus. So, what is needed now is your support.
Reduced spread of the pandemic and reduced insecurity. Reduced malnutrition of the children living in the slums, Reduced Spread of this virus by offering them the best solutions to stay safer withing their locality. Every donation counts! It doesn't matter how big or small it is.This is a situation affecting the whole world and we need to help each other out in times like this. We shall overcome this sooner.
