Fundacion Nuestros Hijos provides free integral support to disadvantaged children with cancer in order to increase their life expectancy, improve quality of life, and decrease the psychosocial impact of the illness. Good nutrition has critical Importance for children fighting cancer, they require to intake extra calories to provide their bodies with critical energy to fight cancer and heal damaged tissues. This crucial nourishment has a high cost that is not covered by the Chilean state.
Cancer treatment often undermines the appetite, alter the tolerance for certain foods, and even change the way patients process nutrients. It often brings unwelcome side effects, including: pain, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting andmouth and throat pain. The intake of supplementary food during cancer treatment is strongly suggested during treatment. Without a good nourishment, chances of surviving cancer decrease. The monthly cost per patient of this supplementary food cans is US$80.
All donations to this fund will be used to buy supplementary food cans needed by cancer patients at Fundacion Nuestros Hijos. This will increase their possibilities of surviving the disease. Raising US $ 32,000 will allow us to finance 100% of the nourishment needs of the children at Fundacion Nuestros Hijos for an entire year.
Cancer has a huge impact on the lives of children and their families, supporting them today, during their recovery, is crucial for their future. Fundacion Nuestros Hijos complements and improves existing services for cancer patients through a variety of social and medical programs, as well as other education, research initiatives and social reintegration programs. We want to continue working so that all Chilean children with cancer have the same opportunities to survive.
