Empowerment For the Poor-Uganda Orphans Children Centers – Maranatha and Ramah in Northern and Western Uganda respectively are steadily continuing with education of children this term despite the devastating hunger that has made many children drop out of schools as starvation in drought prone districts of Uganda reach worrying levels. Thanks to your kindness and generosity for all our 300 children eat lunch every day. With your support to this project, we were able to buy cereals and nuts which included maize flour for posho and porridge, rice, beans, millet, sorghum, soya and peas which has helped us to put food on the table for children. We are waiting for the rains to ensure that we plant potatoes, squashes, carrots, onions, garlic as well as veggies with shorter shelf lives, such as tomatoes, peppers, and kale and at the same time encouraging their caregivers to do so.
A hungry child can't concentrate and hunger is a frequent experience for the children in our school. Children attending our education programme come from the poorest and severely hunger stricken families and therefore most of the times they rely on the meals we serve in school since at home they hardly get enough food. This attracts them to attend school regularly and get concentration in class therefore your contribution greatly support children’s health and education.
When the bell rings for lunchtime, children ran to queue up in their class groups to wait for their food. The most interesting thing is see how the children eat their food with delight and merry. After lunch, the children set for a busy afternoon with ease.
Thank you for supporting this program. Your help as made a big difference in the lives of children. They now wear big smiles on their faces. We would like to invite you to consider giving regularly to this programme to be able to reach our target
Thank you.
