Very young children in the poorest tribal villages of Bundelkhand Uttar Pradesh are malnourished. In this age children requires excessive need for body development. But these children cannot get this nutrition on time so that these poor children become malnourished.

There is one of the child who has a chance at healthy start to life of village Gouna block Madawara. He is protected from malnutrition and related health issues.

This is the story of Arjun, her Mother’s name Saroj and Father’s name Mahesh. He is 2 years old, who was suffering from malnutrition. Arjun belongs to a poor ST and economically backward family from Gouna village block Madawara. When done a home visit by animator of Pragati Bharat team revealed that the child not only weights less, but was suffering from Fever and diarrhea.

Once identified as a malnourished baby, Pragati Bharat kept under special observation and got her to the Growth Monitoring session. It was confirmed that Arjun was a malnourished child her weight at the time of admission was 8.5 kgs.

As a corrective measure, He was provided extra supplementary nutrition and medicines. He was provided nutritional care by the trained doctors. His mother was educated on child nutritional care and feeding practices. She was also taught the food preparation process and to make special Poshahar at home, she was already showing positive trends on his nutritional status. After this, the child was provided with clinical follow up several times by the trained doctor.

With the help of the special care, close follow ups by health workers and his mother’s focus on nutritional food, care and affection, the child has achieved its normal nutritional status gradually. Now, he weighs 10.500 kgs.
