Our support of Ocean Road Cancer Institute (ORCI) of Dar es Salaam continues and what a joy it is to support these innocent children, who are facing such immense challenge.

This is an exciting time for the children and staff at ORCI, who have just this month seen a new facility open, funded by the Irish charity, Children in Crossfire. The modern facility boasts state-of-the-art equipment and is strategically located in Tanzania’s Muhimbili National Hospital, giving patients in need immediate access to laboratory services, ICU and a wide array of medical specialists.

On February 8th, Edesia staff and other guests were treated to an hour-long event which included a tour of the child-friendly premises and musical performances by the children of ORCI and the world famous Mike Peters from ‘Love, Hope, Strength’, the world’s leading Rock N Roll cancer foundation. Dr. Twalib Ngoma, Executive Director of ORCI gave special recognition to volunteer pediatrician, Dr. Trish Scanlan, for her tireless efforts to afford Tanzanian children with the treatment and support that first world citizens enjoy, thereby increasing their survival rates from 15% to 75%!

The final stage of Edesia's support for ORCI is working with hospital administration and local experts to evaluate the prospects of turning an area nearby this new building into a vegetable garden for the purpose of providing sustainable nutritional support to the children and their caregivers during their stay in the hospital. This is a crucial addition to achieve Dr.Trish's goals for these children's survival rates.

We are in need of support. If we meet our fundraising goal. we can build this garden and complete our commitment to these children. Please consider making a donation of $25 today.

Tumaini, Upendo, Ujasiri. Swahili for Hope, Love, Strength.
