For many families caring for vulnerable children in Eastern Uganda, farming is more than a source of income—it is the foundation of household survival. Yet many caregivers struggle to afford quality seeds at the beginning of each planting season, limiting their ability to produce enough food for their families and generate income to meet essential needs such as school requirements, healthcare, and household expenses.
F SSIBU Mission Foundation – Uganda seeks to expand its community farming support by providing free, quality farming seeds to caregivers of children under our care and support programs. This initiative will help caregivers increase their agricultural production, strengthen household food security, and create more reliable sources of income.
With the right seeds and basic agricultural guidance, caregivers can improve crop yields from land they already cultivate. Increased production can provide nutritious food for children while allowing families to sell surplus harvests in local markets. This creates an opportunity for caregivers to gradually become more economically independent and less reliant on emergency assistance.
For donors, supporting this initiative means investing beyond immediate relief. A contribution toward farming seeds can generate benefits across multiple planting seasons, helping families build productive livelihoods and creating a stronger economic foundation for the children in their care.
Our goal is to reach more caregivers across communities in Eastern Uganda with seeds suited to their local farming conditions, alongside practical guidance on sustainable farming practices. By supporting this program, donors will help transform agricultural potential into food, income, dignity, and greater stability for vulnerable families.
This is not simply about distributing seeds. It is about planting an opportunity for a more secure future—one household, one caregiver, and one child at a time.
