Summary

This project will expand the cultural and environmental awareness horizons of kids and adolescents in Chantiik Taj Tajinkutik A.C. They will visit the beach for the first time and at the same time the turtle fields where they will learn of the importance of taking care of the sea turtle. We will take 30 children and adolescents from low-income indigenous families who without your help could not cover the cost of food, transportation, lodging. Help us to fulfill our impossible dream!

Challenge

The sea turtles are an endangered species and protected in Mexico under the norm NOM-162-SEMARNAT-2012. Less than two hours from the beach where these turtles are being protected is Chantiik Taj Tajinkutik A.C., a supplementary school for indigenous Mexican kids that incorporates environmental education into their framework. Despite these students close proximity to the ocean, none of them have ever been able to afford to visit the beach

Solution

By donating, you will allow Chantiik students to visit the Sea Turtle Conservation Camp at Puerto Arista and educate the kids and adolescents of low-income families of Chiapas about the importance of the sea turtle and its conservation. This will give them a once-in-a-lifetime educational experience that they could never afford without your help. Studies have shown time and time again that it is hands-on educational projects such as this that make the biggest impact on young minds.

Long-Term Impact

Not only does your donation carry weight in that it helps kids from economically struggling families see the beach for the first time, but it also has an important long-term environmental goal. The only way to ensure an end to the rampant environmental exploitation that exists today is to educate the younger generation so they dont make the same mistakes as their elders. This applies to the poaching of sea turtles in Chiapas as well; it can only stop once we educate the children.
