Why a Mother in Aleppo Still Needs Us This Winter

Joy is essential especially for children!
Dear Friends,
Political systems can change overnight, but decades of conflict, devastating earthquakes, and economic ruin cannot be erased that quickly. Today, over 80% of Syrians live below the poverty line . The economy is failing to take off, the cost of living is rising exponentially, and recent geopolitical escalations—including the war in Iran—have further aggravated the soaring cost of basic bread and essential medicine.
For one displaced family of six led by a single mother, the political shift hasn't changed the harsh reality of their surroundings. They are currently living in a fragile building severely damaged by the war, years of total neglect, and the earthquake. With winter arriving, they face freezing temperatures with absolutely no heating or insulation. Before our local team stepped in, this mother was facing the unimaginable choice between buying bread or securing medicine for her five children.
Because of your past generosity, our community of 161 dedicated donors has raised €33,922 to keep vulnerable families safe. Our local partners—who have operated on the frontlines for decades supporting everyone regardless of religion or creed—were able to step into this home. Thanks to you, we have been able to support this family with critical rent assistance, winter blankets, sturdy shoes, medicine, and regular monthly food parcels.
But winter temperatures are dropping fast, and millions remain displaced in damaged structures. To protect the most vulnerable children from the biting cold and starvation, we must raise the remaining €12,532 to secure immediate relief for more families.
How your gift saves lives in Aleppo today:
- €25 / $28 protects a child from the freezing temperatures with a warm winter jacket and sturdy shoes.
- €42 / $46 provides a massive emergency food parcel to sustain a displaced family for an entire month.
- €100 / $110 helps cover urgent rent support or life-saving medical supplies for a family living in a damaged building.
- Become a Monthly Donor: A small recurring donation provides predictable funding, allowing our team to consistently distribute food parcels and keep a roof over these children's heads throughout the worst of the winter weather.
Syria's long-term future is finally opening up for reconstruction, but children need to survive the freezing present to build that future.
Thank you for not looking away.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Crete For Life Team
