The Noche De Cine Gratis program will bring a traveling movie theater and life improving educational seminars to over 10,000 underserved and poverty stricken children throughout the North Coast of the Dominican Republic.
Statistics from The World Bank Organization 2019 study show that 20% (more than 2 million people) of the Dominican Republic population live in poverty. A 2017 UNICEF study supported by the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic showed that over 50% of Dominican children drop out of school. Combine these two issues and you have Dominican children suffering from poverty, severe lack of education & very few people trying to help. This project provides relief from all of these situations.
Noche De Cine Gratis provides relief and education for Dominican children by sending out teams to the poorest areas of the North Coast. These teams set up movie theater events in orphanages, schools, churches & city centers. Each event begins with healthy snacks and an educational seminar on subjects ranging from how to take care of yourself & environment, to how to treat others & good study habits. Once the seminar is finished the team screens a movie that supports the message of the seminar.
In just two years NCG has helped over 40,000 underprivileged Dominican children. In 2021 The NCG project will provide over 10,000 more Dominican children, with a safe environment to learn how to live better lives and allow them to experience relief from the daily struggles of poverty through education and entertainment as well as healthy snacks.
