CENTRAL LONDON SAMARITANS #SMALLTALKSAVESLIVES SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN RAISES AWARENESS.

Central London Samaritans provides a 24 hour service every day of the year for the people of London and beyond. It has never closed and has provided an unbroken chain of essential support for over sixty years. Today we support people face to face, by telephone, SMS or email.

In the final months of 2017 Central London Samaritans were excited to be part of the national campaign #smalltalksaveslives. In a partnership with Network Rail, Britain Runs on Rail and the British Transport Police the social media campaign was based around the idea starting a conversation can be enough to save someone’s life.

“A little small talk can be all it takes to interrupt someone’s suicidal thoughts, and help start them on a journey to recovery.”

On December 21st Central London Samaritans took over Charing Cross Station, to raise awareness and spread festive cheer. The Piano Works Live Band, London songsters and Choirs performed as part of “A Christmas Chorus - Sing for Samaritans”, alongside street vendors from Street Foods Markets. With the support of the performers and vendors, the courtyard of Charing Cross Station was transformed into a live music pop-up festival with Choirs singing from 7am welcoming commuters into London. See CHRISTMAS CHORUS for a taste of the event. It was a wonderful day and we are once again fortunate to have devoted volunteers, supporters and callers.

Thank you to all of our supporters who help ensure that no call goes unanswered.
