We've got good news, the new animal shelter building "shell" is almost completed. LCG Pence will have completed the building shell, parking lot and minor landscaping by the end of June. Newberg Animal Shelter Friends (NASF) are excited to start constructing the dog kennel areas. Kennel areas must be totally finished before animals can be brought to the building. We can't continue to pound nails and run noisy equipment and cause trauma to the animals, so all of the heavy construction must be finished. There will be 16 dog kennels and a separate room for cat cages and also a cat play area.
The laundry and food prep rooms are part of the central kennel area, so there is much to do.
NASF will be finishing the interior with materials and labor that are donated or discounted and we're also seeking grants, where available.
Thank you for your donations and support for this project. A few pictures are attached to show the building progress. You can see the rolling doors to the kennels, to give the dogs sunlight and outdoor area. We are using Clackamas Dog Services kennel construction plans as our role model.
The new shelter is located on Sandoz Road, off Wynooski Road, which is off Hwy 219. Drive by and take a look when you're in the area. Progress has been made thanks to you!!!!
