Continuing Traditional Textile Production

By Gillian Wilson | Project Leader

Starting October 12 for a limited time, GlobalGiving will be matching donations for this project! Donate and maximize your impact!

Your support has helped AFEDES provide training for women weavers, allowing them to continue their textile traditions and strengthen their livelihoods. Project highlights include:

  • AFEDES implemented training workshops on various textile production techniques.  By diversifying their products, women weavers can compete in local craft markets and increase their income. Women are better able to provide for themselves and their families.
  • Women’s groups participated in an information exchange program with he group United to Live Better (UPAVIM).   They learned about marketing their products and the possibility of selling them on the international market to increase their income.
  • Through workshops, women learned about their human rights and their right from protection against violence. Women are demanding the enforcement of laws against femicide, protecting themselves and futures generations.

By donating to this project you are ensuring more women can benefit from this program. Thank you for your support.
