A positive start to 2023
![]()
Hope Health Action ended 2022 - our 15th Anniversary year - renewing our call to do everything possible in providing life-saving health and disability care for the world’s most vulnerable, without any discrimination. Including pushing towards our fundraising goal to build a new Neonatal Care Unit at our partner hospital in Haiti.
Despite a challenging fundraising climate, impacted in part by the global cost of living, we continue to receive support from loyal donors and we are delighted to share that the Family Care Room at the new Neonatal Care Room has been funded.
This room will provide mothers with a comfortable space to encourage kangaroo care, an evidenced based strategy known to significantly improve neonatal outcomes. A recent study showed that the initiation of continuous kangaroo care soon afterbirth improved neonatal survival by 25%. The family care room with also support our goal to increase breastfeeding rates
back to 80+% of mothers, from current levels of 53% at HCBH.
We are hugely encouraged by this step forward towards achieving this dream. There are a number of opportunities for donors to fund specific areas of the new NCU, from office space to babies cots as can be seen in the attached proposal, and we encourage anyone interested in this to reach out to us at info@hopehealthaction.org
Thank you for your support.
