We are deeply passionate about the rescue and rehabilitation of the Siberian Husky. Sibes are one of two breeds in trouble world wide. Next to the pitt bullterier they are the most overbred, misunderstood, surrendered and sadly most euthanized breed of dog in shelters as a result. Media programs like Game of Thrones are singularly responsible for this situation. And yet they are one of the most amazing breeds with an extensive history dating back as far as 3000 years according to some experts.
Our landlord has given us notice for two reasons: firstly because he has put our rented property on the market to sell and secondly because we struggle to meet our monthly rental payment. We currently do not have enough income to be financially sustainable. We rely on local fund raising events to generate income. But that is not financially viable as fund raisers cost money. As a result we are in debt with our veterinary accounts and struggle to pay the rental lease on time.
Husky Rescue KZN needs a New Lease... literally and figuratively speaking. My ultimate goal is to create an animal assisted therapy clinic where we use our rescued huskies in animal assisted therapy programs to help people. We would like to move to a bigger property with accommodation for extra people. This project will raise the funds we require to find and lease a new property and set it up to meet our ultimate goal of a working animal assisted therapy farm.
Stability for the charity itself but more specifically for the rescues in our care. Alongside the rescue and rehabilitation of these beautiful dogs, we would like to move into our real vision and dream of animal assisted therapy programs, where our rescued dogs help to rescue people while the people in turn rescue the dogs. Its a double edged sword with a win win outcome.
