Build a new clinic on the outskirts of Jaipur for a community of the Banjara tribe that has no access to healthcare. The new clinic will be a hub of healthcare, education, and vocational services for more than 5000 neighbors. The Banjara people are marginalized by local government and other groups. They have no access to healthcare and easily preventable and treatable conditions exact a heavy toll in the community. These result in immediate health issues, of course, but also affect residents' long-term ability to grow healthy families and communities. Women are particularly at risk for lacking pre- and post-natal education and treatment.
Our new clinic will give us a permanent location from which to serve the Banjara and other local communities. For more than 15 years, we have been serving people across Jaipur and we will bring all of that learning and experience to bear in this new location. Our clinic will treat common injuries and diseases, and our educational programs will help our neighbors make decisions and take actions that protect their future health.
We have seen families transformed across multiple generations in our other clinic communities. We see healthy babies delivered to young women who were themselves malnourished kids treated by SKT 15 years ago. We see anemia rates among young women drop as we implement menstruation educational programs. We see children going to college because their mother earns a living with the sewing machine SKT provided 10 years ago. We will see the same multi-generational impacts in this new community.
