This project will train 200 character based, ethical leaders in Kenya in 2019. Kenya needs a new generation of leaders who are youth willing to transform the terrain of governance in our country. Current leadership is corrupt and leaders are only interested in enriching themselves and amassing power at the expense of the masses. This project will work with youth interested in running for political office in 2022, Kenya's next general election year.
Kenya is perceived as one of the world's most corrupt countries. It ranked 143 out of 180 countries on Transparency International's 2017 corruption perception index. The only African countries that scored worse - among them Somalia, South Sudan, Libya, Eritrea, Burundi, and Zimbabwe - were either politically unstable or in conflict. This haemorrhaging of public funds will do enormous damage to the country's already struggling economy. The scourge of corruption in Kenya must be urgently addressed
The New Generation of Leaders program will train young leaders who will run for public office in various capacities with the hope of replacing corrupt leaders in the next general election. The NGLs will train fellow youth and other community leaders on issues of civic education based on character-based ethical leadership and ways to vote ethical leaders in our Counties.
The project will train 1000 young leaders who will train 25 new generation leaders in their communities to run character-based ethical leaders in their Counties.
