Bistari! Bistari! Bistari!

By Carol Vernal | Founder & CEO

CMAF has combined the following 2 programs: 1. Restore School Libraries in 5 VillageSchools  2. Restore Schools - Restore Lives.  Both programs are operated under the same Nepali management team with the same development goals for all 5 schools.  Donations are no longer accepted for Restore School Libraries in 5 Village Schools. This program is active with funding needs met. Thank you to all donors that made this possible.

When trekking in the Himalayas at high elevations you can hear Sherpas repeating "Bistari! Bistari!” (slowly slowly).  By slowly keeping one foot in front of the other while holding the vision of Mt Everest summit ahead success becomes attainable.  Keeping this in mind helps us focus on goals and manage challenges while moving slowly ahead.   We are committed to providing a comfortable and secure environment where children can learn and grow.  Dispite obstacles created by Mother Nature and unforeseeable  challenges we are moving ahead to live up to our commitments and complete our goals. Bistre! Bistari!

Two schools now have library carpets and bookshelves in place with three others in process. By procuring local materials and utilizing village manpower we are improving the economy and lower our overall costs.   The uniform manufacturer in Kathmandu promised to deliver 600 uniforms for five village schools by October 10, 2016 but failed to do so due to labour shortages during the month long Deshain holidays.  The manufacturer delivered 288 pieces this past Tuesday November 7th at a 10% discount.  As you can see from the pictures the children were delighted with their new school uniforms.   There has been difficulty in obtaining a feasible purchase price for sneakers but hope to complete negotiations and distribute both sneakers with school uniforms to all five schools during the next few weeks.

The next phase of library development will begin when school uniform distributions have been completed.

Thank you for all of your help and support.  You are the ones that truly make the difference.  What we need right now are prayers.  Dollars are always welcome to facilitate filling the villagers needs but prayers can never be substituted.
