DTI Foundation continues to collaborate with local health authorities and hospitals in Nepal to strengthen the foundations of an effective donation and transplantation system. The project focuses on training healthcare professionals, providing technical guidance, and raising awareness in the community. These activities contribute to long-term improvements in the country’s capacity to save lives through donation and transplantation.
Main Activities
Capacity Building: Training activities were carried out with healthcare professionals, combining theoretical and practical sessions on organ donation and transplantation.
Technical Support: Hospitals and health authorities received advice on improving clinical protocols and coordination mechanisms.
Awareness Raising: Educational materials and community meetings were used to promote public understanding of the value of organ donation.
Institutional Strengthening: Collaboration with national stakeholders supported progress toward a more structured and sustainable donation program.
Outcomes
As a result of the above activities, professionals gained skills and knowledge, hospitals advanced in updating their internal procedures, and awareness about organ donation was extended to local communities. The work in Nepal continues to lay the groundwork for a donation and transplantation system capable of responding to patients in need.
Impact Story
One example of impact is the positive feedback received from healthcare professionals after the training sessions. Participants expressed increased confidence in discussing organ donation with families and in applying the principles learned in their daily clinical practice.
Use of Funds
Funds were used to support training sessions, expert guidance to hospitals, awareness activities in the community, and coordination with national health authorities.
Next Steps
DTI Foundation will continue working with hospitals and the Ministry of Health in Nepal to consolidate the training delivered, expand awareness activities, and further strengthen institutional capacity for donation and transplantation.
