On 26 August 2026, a glacier collapse triggered catastrophic flash floods along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers in Nepal, killing hundreds and leaving over a thousand missing. Entire villages in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading were swept away. OBHIZATRIK Foundation and OBHIZATRIK International are jointly raising funds to deliver relief materials in coordination with the Embassy of Nepal and to fund trusted local Nepali NGOs carrying out lifesaving work on the ground.
On 26 August 2026, a massive glacier collapse near the Nepal-China border triggered an avalanche of ice, rock and water, raising rivers by up to 9m in 30 minutes. The flood devastated villages, roads, bridges and hydropower infrastructure across Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading. Hundreds are dead and 1,000+ missing. Thousands lost homes, belongings and livelihoods; many communities remain cut off. Families urgently need food, water, shelter, clothing, hygiene supplies and medical care.
OBHIZATRIK Foundation and OBHIZATRIK International in Portugal will support Nepal's flood response: (1) coordinate with Nepal's Embassy to procure/dispatch dry food, water, hygiene kits and medical supplies for customs, transport & handover; (2) fund vetted NGOs in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading, selected for registration, track record and accountability, with beneficiary lists, photos and receipts; (3) oversee procurement, transfers and reporting, with donor updates on GlobalGiving.
Beyond relief, this project strengthens South Asian solidarity in disaster response. Investing in local Nepali organizations builds lasting capacity for future Himalayan disasters, expected to increase as climate change destabilizes glaciers. Remaining funds will support early recovery, helping families rebuild shelters, replace essential household items and restore small livelihoods, enabling survivors to move from crisis to stability with dignity.
