Founded by Nelson Mandela Children's Fund, this hospital is a dedicated facility that services children of Southern Africa. It was born out of Madiba's wish that all children have access to the health care they need and deserve, and was built with the help of donors around the world. NMCH opened in June 2017, and continues to help children who need specialised services such as Radiology, Dialysis, Neurosurgery, Cardiology and General Surgery - with your help we can continue to save lives.
Southern Africa has only 2 dedicated children's hospitals, and more than 50 million children. This is not enough. The biggest healthcare gaps exist in the specialised areas of care that children need in order to heal.
NMCH addresses these needs through its centres of excellence, which focus on the following specialities: Nephrology, Cardiology, Oncology, Neurosurgery, Critical Care, Orthopaedic Surgery, General Paediatric Surgery. Beyond this, NMCH aims to build capacity throughout the region through telemedicine, research, training and partnerships with other facilities.
Improved health outcomes for African children - ensuring better lives for future leaders of this world.
