Ndirima-Litembo's Montessori primary school building is ready for students. A personal hygiene facility is under construction and will be ready when the school opens. Just a few more final touches and this project will become a Montessori primary school for a community of subsistence farmers. It will be the first in this area of western Tanzania. Let's hope it becomes the seed that sprouts other Montessori initiatives in the region, enabling pre-school children be fully prepared for elementary schooling.
The young woman from Ndirima-Litembo who is studying to become a Montessori teacher for the primary school is finishing her practicums as well as completing construction of her classroom materials. Later this spring, she'll leave Mtwara, Tanzania where she's been studying. When she returns she'll set up the classroom materials she made.
While Father Hugo, who has spearheaded this project, has encountered some medical issues, the community continues to put its faith in this Montessori initiative. They continue to prepare for the school launch with establishing a garden to grow food for the students, plus building shelving, tables and chairs for the little ones. It's been a community effort from the very beginning.
Your donations have made this all possible. Your continued support has given this Montessori initiative the help it needed to take child-centered education to an under-resourced community. Without it, this effort would not have come to fruition. Thank you for all your donations.
