Ndirima Litembo Montessori School will provide a rural farming community far outside Songea, Tanzania with their own primary or early childhood school once it has acquired Montessori classroom materials and a trained Montessori teacher.
This rural farming community lacks any early childhood schooling and is too far away from a preschool for the young children to walk to. Parents have asked for a primary school for their children to prepare them for the local elementary school. Father Lungo, a Tanzanian Catholic priest, brought together parishioners, community members, and others to launch and build a Montessori early childhood building. Now they need Montessori primary classroom materials and a trained Montessori teacher.
By funding both the acquisition or construction of Montessori primary level materials and training a Montessori teacher, MGGF's support will bring the school alive, enabling the children to learn in a self-motivated environment with the materials that encourage self-discovery. These children will go onto the local elementary school with a firm educational foundation and with a high level of social-emotional skills.
Potentially, this project will enable the graduating children to enter their local elementary school prepared and motivated to achieve in the academic environment. Longer term, having this early childhood education program in place in this rural part of Tanzania will raise the overall quality of education in this village and perhaps encourage other neighboring villages to launch their own Montessori early childhood school, benefiting their children.
