Shubhoshree* with eyes full of hope

Shubhoshree* Das is a girl of around 16 years from remote Nandakumarpur village under Mathurapur II block in South 24 Parganas District of West Bengal, India.

Shubhoshree* stays with her parents and a younger sister in a small mud hutment. Her father Mr. Ratan* Das is a daily wage labourer by profession at domestic & agricultural activitiesin the vicinity and the lone earner of the family. On an average he earns around INR 2000.00 – 2500.00 per month. Thus with very meager amount the father earns they struggle to meet their family needs at a steep hardship.

Shubhoshree’s* mother Mrs. Reba* is ailing by serious Kidney problem since long time and not able to do any work even at household.

Shubhoshree* studies in 10th Standard at the local govt. higher secondary school ‘Nandakumarpur High School’. She joined the ‘Nayantara’ programme in the beginning of 2017 while studying in 8th standard. Thoughan attentive student since the very beginning she was not fully conscious of the importance of education in life. Nowshe has developed a sense of responsibility.

She has improved in both Mathematics and English very fast with the caring mentoring of the teachers of Nayantara programme. She loves to study Geography the most. She has completed the Selection Test examination for the ensuing Madhyamik Pariksha (10th standard Board Examination) to be held in coming February, 2020.

She always takes all opportunity of holistic learning provided by Nayantara programme with an inquisitive mind and high energy. Thus the life skill education, trainings on personal hygiene and life skill, Bratachari, Art & Craft trainings all are contributing very actively in shaping her personality.

With a determination to build a strong future she is ready to accept any challenges of life. With an ever learning indomitable spirit and thirst to grow Shubhoshree* aspires to take Nursing training after completing Higher Secondary (+2) studiesand become a Nurse to serve the people of remote Sunderbans villages.

Her parents always support her good initiatives and feel grateful to SabujSangha for the support they render to adolescent girls like their daughter in the rete Sunderbans villages.

We are overwhelmed at the consistent support received from all of you. The support heped them having various skill trainings, nutritions, support for education and manty more. Please continue supporting and encourage others to support for the noble cause.
