National Feral Cat Day (Oct 16) spay/neuter events

Summary

In honor of National Feral Cat Day (October 16), FCCO will spay/neuter 115 feral and stray cats. If each of these 115 cats was left to reproduce just once, there would be 575 more homeless kittens.

Challenge

Feral and stray cats are living, suffering, and reproducing on the streets, behind buildings, under people's decks, and in bushes all around. Caregivers don't look for cats to feed, but they realize the cats are there and need help. Without FCCO's spay/neuter services these cats keep reproducing. The cats without caregivers create hungry and suffering kittens. Feral cats fortunate enough to have caregivers create more mouths to be fed. The cats and the caregivers need help.

Solution

National Feral Cat Day (October 16) is a day of awareness- to educate the public that help is available. In celebration of this day 115 feral and stray cats will be spayed/neutered, ending the breeding cycle that otherwise creates needless suffering.

Long-Term Impact

If each one of the 115 cats had just one litter of 5 kittens, 575 kittens would be born and they in turn would have more kittens... Every cat that is spayed/neutered ensures that many others won't suffer and that caregivers will not have more to feed
