Hello, we are pleased to share with you a September update for our National Emergency Response Program.
Because of you, Canada is becoming better prepared to protect animals and the people who care for them; before, during, and after an emergency.
When wildfires, floods, or other disasters strike, animals can be among the most vulnerable. Their safety is closely connected to the resources and well-being of the people and communities who love them.
That’s why Humane Canada’s Emergency Response Program is working to strengthen Canada’s capacity to respond.
With the support of donors and partners like you, we are building a more coordinated national approach to animal welfare emergency response, including:
This is not only about preparing for the next emergency. It is also about being there when disaster strikes today – but we need your support to continue this important work.
We are happy to say that Humane Canada and our generous partners, will be rewarding disaster relief funding to organizations responding to animals and communities impacted by the wildfires.
These organizations are on the ground helping animals and the people who care for them navigate the devastating effects of wildfire.
Your support helps make this kind of response possible, and helps build the connections, knowledge, and resources needed for a stronger emergency response system across Canada. Every emergency is different. But one thing remains constant, animals depend on people to be prepared to help them.
You can help us build better emergency planning for animals by sharing your experience. Whether you’ve faced a wildfire, flood, evacuation, or a medical emergency as an animal guardian, or have supported emergency response and recovery efforts in your community, your perspective matters.
By sharing what worked and what didn’t, you can help identify gaps and opportunities to better support people and animals before, during, and after emergencies across Canada.
