We, Sahyadri Nisarga Mitra are very thankful to every donor for their valuable contribution towards My Jungle project, we are also thankful towards GlobalGiving for their support to spread our work all over the world.

Biodiversity Survey

Biodiversity Surveys were executed to document the fascinating wildlife in the region. In the Konkan region, we have so many sacred forests which are called as ‘Devarai’ in the local language. These forests are protected due to religious reasons, by hundreds of years.  ‘Kudawale Devarai ‘ is one of the oldest sacred forest placed in Dapoli block of Ratnagiri district. Two days biodiversity survey was executed by day night patrolling and camera trapping.

Educating young minds

SNM is inspiring the young minds by introducing them to the amazing life of wild animals and the beauty of nature. SNM has published a book ‘Gupit Khavlemanjarache’ which means ‘Secret Lives of Pangolin’ in collaboration with Sahyadri Tiger Reserve. The book introduces the entire life of Pangolin in the way of storytelling.

Alternate livelihood

The best way to reduce the strain on the forests is to provide Alternate livelihood resources to the locals. Thus SNM is inspiring people toward ecotourism, NTFP collection and the other livelihood resources which do not possess threat among nature. Community meetings were held at Choravane and Panhali village, in meeting people were introduced the idea on Homestay and Nature Guide. Modern beekeeping training workshops were held at veer and Panhali.

Tree Plantation

To maximize the survival rate of the plants which were planted earlier, the Care of the plants taken by providing fertilizers, removal of weeds and other works were done with the help of local people. There was very good support of locals including schooling children. SNM is also inspiring people by providing native species plants or any other type of help they need to take care of the plants.
