Quarterly Report April 2026– Mwangaza wa Haki Tanzania
During this quarter, TAJPI had the valuable opportunity to participate in a two-day human rights advocacy training organized by the Tanzania Human Rights Defenders Coalition (THRDC). The training significantly strengthened our capacity to promote and defend human rights, particularly in advancing civic education as a foundation for transparent, accountable, and participatory democratic governance.
Key areas of learning included resource mobilization strategies, identification of funding opportunities, proposal and concept note development, donor engagement, and digital fundraising approaches. The training also addressed critical issues related to risk assessment and the protection of human rights defenders. We commend THRDC for delivering a well-structured and highly relevant program that enhances both the sustainability and security of civic and human rights work.
This experience has strengthened our institutional readiness and renewed our commitment to implementing our project, “Mwangaza wa Haki Tanzania (Light of Justice Tanzania).” It has reinforced our belief that even small-scale support, combined with strong community engagement, can generate meaningful and lasting impact.
Following the training, the TAJPI team conducted outreach visits to local schools, where we engaged students in discussions on civic education, ethical leadership, and responsible citizenship through the Mwangaza wa Haki Tanzania program. These interactions continue to demonstrate the strong need and enthusiasm among young people for knowledge, dialogue, and guidance.
Despite these positive developments, the operating environment for civic education remains complex, and sustained effort is required to ensure safe, inclusive, and constructive engagement at the community level. TAJPI remains committed to fostering open, respectful spaces for dialogue and learning
During this quarter, we did not receive financial contributions through our fundraising campaign. As a result, our activities were sustained through in-kind support, volunteer contributions, and the dedication of our team. While this demonstrates resilience, it also highlights the urgent need for financial support to scale and sustain this work.
We respectfully invite donors and partners to support this initiative. Your contribution will directly enable us to expand civic education, strengthen youth leadership, and promote a culture of justice, accountability, and peaceful participation in Tanzania.
Together, we can invest in informed and ethical leadership for the future.
With sincere gratitude,
TAJPI Team
