High school senior and Girl Scout Alexia gave us a heads up to expect four boxes containing 20 instruments at our office. We celebrate when any donor sends us their cherished instrument, but 20?
This New Jersey teen was working towards her Gold Award and chose the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation as her charity project. Working with her dad in the family music store, Alexia repaired and refurbished many of the donated instruments and she even sent along histories of the instruments.
“Music has been such a large part of my life and I am thankful for this opportunity to share music with others, since I know I would not be the person I am today without the opportunities I had in music education. Music provides me an outlet for stress and emotion and has taught me discipline and self-worth; I wish to share all of these lessons and more with younger band students through cooperation with your amazing program.”
Dozens of students will benefit from Alexia’s hard work for years to come!
Here are some things you can do now to support music education and the work of The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation!
