The past few months have brought new musical experiences and the start of a new school year for the children and youth participating in the Wayuu Taya Foundation’s music programs.
From June 22 to 26, students from Núcleo Fundación Wayuu Taya participated in a flute festival in Maracaibo, Zulia State, as part of their musical education.
Both Núcleo Fundación Wayuu Taya and Music Heals International (MHI) successfully concluded their previous season. MHI, which offers classes four days a week, celebrated its season finale on August 14, one week after El Sistema’s closing activities.
Following a short break between academic terms, students returned to their music lessons at Tepichi Talashi on September 14, reconnecting with their teachers and classmates and continuing their musical development.
Through regular lessons and group practice at Núcleo Fundación Wayuu Taya, children and youth strengthen their musical skills while learning the importance of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. The program offers a supportive environment where they can share their interests, learn from one another, and develop a sense of belonging.
Music Heals International continues to provide interactive music education to 42 students through guitar, keyboard, and percussion classes. These lessons give students opportunities to explore different instruments, express their creativity, and build confidence as they learn and make music together.
The return to classes marks the beginning of another period of learning and shared experiences. Beyond practicing their instruments, students continue to build friendships and develop skills that support them both in the classroom and in their daily lives.
Your continued support helps keep these programs available to children and youth in our community. We are grateful to El Sistema, Music Heals International, our teachers, families, donors, and supporters for making these opportunities possible.
Thank you for helping our students continue to learn and grow through music!
