The DREAM Music Program had a hugely sucessful spring, exposing our youth to even more refined musical instruction, a newly improved curriculum through FEDUJAZZ and a huge beach concert that changed the lives of our young students.
DREAM Music Director Juan Guivin has continued to grow our program, adding an ambitious plan for next year and the summer. Through our collaboration with FEDUJAZZ and The DR Jazz Festival, Juan has spent the last two months working alongside worldclass musician Ramon Vasquez of FEDUJAZZ, assessing our students, developing curriculum and pinpointing our goals for 2013-2014.
The highpoint of our Global Giving Campaign was Wimbash Cabarete, with a weekend of activities including The Family Night Circus, a sold out dinner and acoustic show with Grammy Award winners Living Colour and then our huge, free concert on Cabarete beach with over 2,000 fans who enjoyed performances by StereoBox, Kate Grüllon, Sociedad Tabu, Circuito Negro, Living Colour and of course, The DREAM Music Program's own Young Stars Band. Thanks to the efforts of our volunteer committee, led by David Zinaman and our generous sponsors http://dominicandream.org/2013/04/02/wimbash-cabarete-2013.html, DREAM combined forces with Global Giving and YOU to raise over $7,000.
We are looking forward to continued workshops with featured musicians, expanded music classes and support from our Global Giving family so we can reach more children, change more lives and enrich the lives of hundreds more youth through the summer and next fall.
