The rains in Peru have activated ravines causing landslides that have harmed different areas, causing collapse of houses and flooding of entire communities in the regions of Lima, La Libertad, Lambayeque y Piura.
Huaicos in Peru, like floods, occur in the rainy season, between December and April, reaching the towns that are in the lower part of the ravines and causing enormous damage in their path (homes, crops, roads, people, forests, animals, businesses). This year, several streams were activated in our country and so far the communities of Lima, Piura, La Libertad and Lambayeque.
From Juguete Pendiente, we respond urgently and at great speed to natural disasters, fires or health emergencies with the aim of bringing help to vulnerable populations, through an articulated work that is born from the intersection of the private sector, the public sector, academia and social organizations. That is why, in this emergency we are going to take first aid kits, food kits for common pots and implements for debris removal.
In the long term, we would like to help these affected families with emotional support and, at the same time, also start a project for the reconstruction of houses as we have done before in other emergencies so that they can continue.
This project has provided additional documentation in a PDF file (projdoc.pdf).
