Women and girls of color are at the forefront of the gender equality movement to ensure safety, health and economic opportunity for all women and girls in the United States. Supported by CHIME FOR CHANGE, the Ms. Foundation for Women plans to provide targeted innovation grants for grassroots movement building by women and girls in some of the least resourced communities in the United States, including the South.
The Ms. Foundation for Women envisions a world in which women and girls of color - including transgender women and girls of color - can leverage their voices, power and expertise to transform systemic conditions. Their work can ensure safety, health and economic opportunity for themselves, their communities and all women and girls. Women and girls of color have been pivotal frontline leaders and organizers in the powerful social change movements for greater equity and preserving our democracy.
Increased funding for grassroots movement building and leadership development for women and girls, particularly women and girls of color, is needed more than ever in the United States and US South. Your support will allow our grantee partners to innovate, diversify and build collective power that integrates inclusive perspectives, people and approaches toward greater equity.
What would change in the lives of women and girls of color? Women and girls of color, including transgender women and girls of color, will experience greater levels of economic security and opportunity. Women and girls of color, including transgender women and girls of color, will experience less violence in their schools, communities, workplaces and public spaces. Women and girls of color, transgender women of color, will have freedom and agency over decisions about their bodies and lives.
