Since 2014, Move Forward Foundation has been providing sports, dance and cultural activities for children and young people living in asylum seeker centers and emergency reception facilities across the Netherlands. Through the AZC Workshop Tour, we create safe and positive spaces where young people can be active, discover their talents, build confidence and connect with others during a period often marked by uncertainty and transition.
What started as a series of 14 workshops reaching 183 children and young people in December 2025 . In 2026, the AZC Workshop Tour expanded across the country, delivering more than 120 workshops in reception centers throughout the Netherlands. As a result, we have more than doubled our reach and are engaging hundreds of children and young people through sports, dance and music.
Our coaches bring energy, consistency and positive role models into environments where opportunities for recreation and personal development are often limited. Beyond the activities themselves, the workshops create moments of joy, connection and belonging. Young people are encouraged to express themselves, develop new skills and build relationships with their peers in a safe and supportive setting.
Feedback from both participants and reception center staff continues to be overwhelmingly positive. Staff regularly highlight the diversity of the activities, the quality of the coaches and the unique atmosphere created during the workshops.
As the AZC Workshop Tour continues to grow, Move Forward remains committed to ensuring that children and young people living in reception centers have access to meaningful activities that contribute to their wellbeing, resilience and personal development.
