Throughout the Summer of 2016, FAME students will be engaged in over 140 hours of rigorous Problem Based Learning (PBL) in the academic areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Technology, and Science Lecture & Lab. In addition to academic learning, students will also have the opportunity to visit local industry leaders to become emerged and introduced to real-life STEM applications and careers. With the support of FAME’s academic staff, students will build upon prior knowledge gained from previous sessions and work together in cooperative groups to learn, design, and build drones using reverse engineering techniques and 3D printing.
FAME’s 2016 Summer Sessions will be held over 4 and 6 consecutive weeks from June to August. Participating students entering grades 7-10 will attend 6 weeks of programming, Monday to Thursday, for 7 hours per day (8am – 3pm) at Alexis I. duPont High School in Wilmington, Delaware. Students entering grades 11 and 12 receive the incredible opportunity to live on-campus hosted by the University of Delaware’s College of Engineering. Students reside on campus Monday to Friday to engage in 4 weeks of college-level courses designed specifically to prepare students for the rigors of pursuing a STEM related degree.
