Forum to Advance Minorities in Engineering's (FAME, Inc.) CORE STEM Enrichment school year session began in October 2017 and will conclude in May 2018. The Fall to Spring school year session for 2017-18 has been taking place two Saturdays per month (the first and the third), for all enrolled students from 7th to 12th grade. STEM sessions run from 9am-12pm at Alexis I. duPont High School in Wilmington, Delaware. Future sessions, including the 2018 six week summer session (grades 7-10) and Fall to Spring sessions for 2018-19 (grades 7-12) will take place at John Dickinson High School in Wilmington, DE.
During the Fall to Spring school year session, FAME students have been engaged in rigorous Problem Based Learning (PBL) activities that focus on the following academic areas: 1.) English Language Arts (ELA), 2.) Mathematics, 3.) Technology, 4.) Science lecture, and 5.) Science lab. In addition to enrichment programming, students also benefit from other supportive services, such as: internship opportunities; scholarships; college preparation and SAT test workshops; peer counseling; job readiness/workforce development workshops; awards ceremonies; and field trips to interact with top executives, engineers, scientists, and technology specialists working for Fortune 500 organizations. Many of these professionals are FAME alumni. The combination of these efforts helps to fully prepare, promote, and motivate students and infuse institutions of higher education (colleges/universities) with highly competitive and successful students.
FAME would like to take a moment to recognize our 2018 graduating seniors who are all going places! Below is a list of their collective accepted universities and prospective majors.
