Help us support 20 mothers of children with disabilities in Mombasa, Kenya, with medical care, therapy, financial training, and psychosocial support. This project empowers families, breaking the cycle of poverty and stigma. Children will access therapy and medical treatment, while mothers receive financial skills to start businesses and counseling for emotional resilience. Together, we can ensure stability and a brighter future for these families.
Mothers of children with disabilities in Kenya face severe challenges, including limited access to essential medical care and widespread stigma. Living on less than $2 a day, they endure extreme poverty and social isolation, making it difficult to provide consistent care vital for their children's development. These mothers grapple with balancing daily survival and ensuring their children receive the support needed to improve their quality of life and long-term prospects.
This project provides holistic support to 20 mothers of children with disabilities. It includes weekly therapy and medical care at Port Reitz Hospital to improve children's physical and cognitive development. Economic empowerment through savings groups and training helps mothers start small businesses or crafts at Bombolulu Workshop, generating income. Psychosocial support through counseling and peer groups aids mothers in managing challenges, reducing stress, and fostering mental well-being.
This project will have a lasting impact by transforming the lives of families with children with disabilities through healthcare access, financial empowerment, and psychological support. Mothers will achieve self-sufficiency, enabling them to better care for their children and break the cycle of poverty. Consistent care will enhance children's quality of life and development, while fostering dignity, inclusion, and acceptance within their communities for sustainable, long-term change.
