Project Report 2 of "MOTHER BABY SCHOOL" in India

Holi is taken place in March. It is one of the three largest festivals in India and comes alive a lot. Everywhere has a carnival atmosphere. Teachers gave pounce to children as a present the day before Holi at school. Though it is usually dissolved in water to make colored water, they did not do so but daubed it all over teachers as soon as they were given.

A circus troupe whose members are Russians and Africans came near the school. It was the first time for children to see a circus. They saw a person jumping between swings in the air, acrobatics by soft body performers, juggling show by children who are at the same ages as theirs, a dramatic performance by dogs and parrots, and so on. They were so surprised that were in breathless suspense.  They looked so excited a three-hour program. They enjoyed a lot though they cannot go to a cinema and a zoo easily.

Indian schools have term-end-exams in April. These exams are so important because they can be promotion tests or be application of next school.  Teachers of each school in India make exam. These exams were carried out at Mother Baby School.  Teachers of our school made exam as a result of trial and error.  Four compulsory subjects; Hindi, English, combination of science and social studies and math were carried out.  Children took one subject per a day and they did their best for 4days. After exams we asked them “How were exams?” and they unanimously answered “Perfect!”They used to be not able to even read Hindi but they are able to both read and write it right now.English is still difficult for them but they practice well when volunteers visit to them, for example, introducing themselves and asking volunteers’ name in English.

In May, the hot season, Mother Baby School had a graduation day for the first time. One male student and one female student finishedfive year’ school curriculumso they are going to go on to junior high school from this July. They are our first graduates! He said “I will never forget what I studied at Mother Baby School! Thank you!” She said with standing crying “Thank you so much!” We miss them a lot but they are great achievement for our school!

All children do not always go on to the next stage because of economic reasons. We are planning to supports children going to higher level. (We release details soon!) We are going to keep on trying to make it possible for more and more children to achieving their each dream and getting stable job. Please continue your kind guidance.
