In 2021 the Monument Fire swept through the Trinity County downriver area destroying local communities and family homes. NVCSS Disaster Case Managers assist the survivors with their recovery goals one day at a time.
The Devastating Monument Wildfire damaged communities in Trinity County near Big Flat, CA. This is a both a rural and frontier community with limited resources and is often underserved and impoverished. 28 properties and surrounding areas were destroyed as well as numerous families were displaced for 88 days. Many were affected by smoke damage, food spoilage and lost wages while being displaced.
Disaster Case Managers work one on one with survivors and help guide them to their own recovery goals one day at a time. Disaster Case managers also scout out community resources and grant opportunity to assist under insured, low income, disadvantaged, the elderly and those with access and functional needs. During the recovery process homeowners are often displaced, their employers have also been burned out causing loss of employment and basic needs are hard to meet.
