Daughters of Hope: Education Support for Orphan Girls in Pakistan
Organization
Supported by: Moses Welfare Foundation
Executive Summary
Education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking poverty, protecting vulnerable children, and building stronger societies. In Pakistan, however, thousands of orphan girls remain deprived of education due to poverty, social inequality, and financial hardship.
For orphan girls living in low-income communities, the loss of parents often means the loss of opportunity, safety, and hope. Many are forced to leave school because their guardians cannot afford tuition fees, uniforms, books, shoes, or transportation costs. Without education, these girls become highly vulnerable to child labor, domestic exploitation, and early marriage.
The “Daughters of Hope” project was established to provide monthly educational support for 25 orphan girls from vulnerable communities across Pakistan. The initiative covers school fees, uniforms, books, school shoes, stationery, and learning materials while closely monitoring each child’s educational progress and well-being.
By removing financial barriers and providing consistent support, this project enables orphan girls to remain in school, continue their education, and build safe, independent, and dignified futures.
Historical Background of Girls’ Education in Pakistan
Since the creation of Pakistan in 1947, access to education has remained a major national challenge, particularly for girls living in poor and rural communities.
Although Pakistan has made progress in expanding educational access over the decades, millions of children, especially girls, remain out of school due to:
Girls from vulnerable families face the greatest obstacles. For orphan girls, the situation becomes even more difficult because they often lose both financial support and family protection.
In many low-income communities:
Despite constitutional commitments and national education reforms, many orphan girls in Pakistan continue to struggle for basic educational opportunities.
Education not only protects girls from exploitation and poverty but also strengthens families, communities, and future generations. An educated girl is more likely to:
Investing in girls’ education is therefore one of the most effective ways to reduce poverty and promote long-term social development in Pakistan.
Problem Statement
Orphan girls in vulnerable communities face severe educational and social barriers.
Without parental support, many girls cannot afford:
As financial pressure increases, girls are often forced to:
School dropout exposes orphan girls to lifelong poverty, exploitation, and social insecurity.
Although many orphan girls are highly motivated to learn and succeed, the absence of consistent educational support prevents them from achieving their full potential.
Without intervention, these girls remain at high risk of losing both their education and future opportunities.
