Children growing up in vulnerable families in Egbe, Nigeria often face daily challenges that leave little room for simple childhood joy. Each month, C.A.R.E. Africa hosts a Child Celebration, where children gather to share a warm meal, play games, laugh together, and spend time in a positive and supportive environment. During these gatherings, we also celebrate the birthdays of the children whose birthdays fall within that month, giving them a special moment to feel seen, valued, and celebrated
Many children in Egbe, Nigeria grow up in families facing economic hardship. Parents and guardians often work long hours just to meet basic needs, leaving little room for children to experience moments of celebration, encouragement, and positive community. Simple experiences that many children take for granted, such as sharing a special meal, celebrating a birthday, or gathering safely with friends, are often absent.
This project supports monthly Child Celebrations hosted by C.A.R.E. Africa in Egbe. During these gatherings, children come together to share a warm meal, play games, laugh, and enjoy time in a safe and supportive environment. Each celebration also includes recognizing and celebrating the birthdays of the children whose birthdays fall during that month, giving them a special moment to feel seen and appreciated among their peers. A donation of $1,000 helps provide three months of Child Celebration
Regular opportunities for positive gatherings help children build confidence, friendships, and a sense of belonging within their community. Over time, these celebrations become more than just a day of fun. They become a consistent reminder to each child that they are valued and supported. Through these gatherings, children develop stronger social connections and benefit from mentorship that encourages positive values, responsibility, and hope for the future.
