This project aims to help the most vulnerable communities in Lebanon receive their basic needs. This year, URDA is launching an initiative that aims to remind the needy, poor and fragile that hope is still alive and that compassion still has a positive impact in the world. This project is a reminder to every person in need that they are not alone in their struggles.
Around 82 percent of Lebanon's population are living in poverty, while nearly 40 percent of the poor population, 1.65 million people, are facing extreme poverty, according to the UN's multidimensional poverty index. Recently, ESCWA released new data updates, estimating that the proportion of the population living in multidimensional poverty has nearly doubled between 2019 and 2021 from 42% to 82%.
This project aims to help needy families experience a holy month in a dignified way. Children that haven't felt joy and hope in a while will get the chance to live such a holiday for the first time. You can contribute in creating this happiness by donating and supporting this project that targets more than 2.5 million needy families all over Lebanon. In a country where corruption, problems and misery suffocate the poor, help us in creating hope, joy and safety for these needy people.
This initiative will feed a massive number of underprivileged families that range from Syrian and Palestinian refugees, to Lebanese families living under the line of poverty. The idea behind our project is that donating and supplying needy people with food goes beyond nutrition, it represents safety, hope and dignity. YOU can be part of the positive change by participating and raising awareness about the topic. It is beyond important to remind needy people and the world that we are together.
