Our delivery service of fresh produce (EcoVillage Farms) continues into the winter, with root vegetables, canned goods, bread and sweets. We recently hosted some open house events, one at the farm and another where we coordinate logistics in the city. Thanks to the United Nations, we'll be adding winter-proof trailers, some electric bikes and a solar powered charging station soon.
Reconstruction of the incubator is in full speed, we removed the old roof, reinforced the volunteer house, ordered a new roof, cleared out all evidence of the tobacco/pig operation, built a cellar, started construction of a small visitors' dorm and a cafe that will overlook the shared kitchen space. We plan to take a break during December and January, restart in February if the weather behaves.
Over the last couple of months we started engaging small food producers with workshops and networking events. During the winter we'll conduct a more comprehensive survey/interview process to understand their needs better. We'll also start an internship program (thanks to the American Embassy) to help connect young women from vocational schools and community colleges with existing entrepreneurs.
