We have had such a successful semester! Thanks to all of you, our donors, we've made phenomenal progress towards our rather large goal! This semester our five campaigns went very well. One of our yearly campaigns connected us to our Haitian roots: selling Haitian style rice and beans during Haitian Celebration. The campus loved it! We also held a couple smaller campaigns, even one coinciding with Mother’s Day. All of our proceeds went straight to Maison de Naissance, a birthing clinic in rural Haiti.
This May, we sent a group of our own GlobeMed Members to Haiti. We have a Grass Roots On-sight Work Internship (GROW Trip) every year and each year the team focuses on a different project. This year, our GROW members are surveying past Maison de Naissance patients to determine how many are returning for further care. This data is very important for Maison de Naissance and will be used to create new extended care programs for these mothers and children. Maison de Naissance has several different programs for care after the child is born. Continuum Care programs are offered for family planning through childhood vaccinations as well as other pro-active recall systems for continuity of care.
Thanks to you we were able to nearly raise our goal of $12,000 to help the mothers and babies of Torbeck, Haiti. For next year’s goal, we are focusing more on quality versus quantity with our campaigns. We hope this will help create a more intimate connection within our chapter, with our supporters and ultimately with Maison de Naissance. You are helping us make a difference in the lives of these mothers and children and you are helping us in the fight for global health equity. Ultimately, you are helping to make a difference in the world, one baby at a time, and your assistance is very much appreciated!
