This year Mindful Medicine Worldwide celebrates our 10 year Anniversary. With your help, 52 volunteers have given over 85,000 treatments to high need patients in and around the Kathmandu valley of Nepal. With you, we experienced the shocking effects of the 2015 earthquake and you rallied to bring immediate relief in the form of housing, medical care, and a new clinic. Help us to make the next decade as successful as this one, raise $20,000 by 2020 and to treat another 100,000 people in need.
The Sindhupalchok District of Nepal is one of the most underserved areas of the world. The median per capita income is $57. There is one hospital for almost 300,000 people in the district, and only 11 health outposts. 80% of the people of this area are rice and grain farmers. 96% of homes in the area were destroyed by the 2015 earthquake. The most common health problems are digestive disorders (only 25% have toilets) and lung disease. People in this area are greatly in need of free health care.
MMW will continue to bring high quality health care to the people of Chanaute, as well as other areas in the Kathmandu valley. In the last 10 years we have given over 85,000 treatments and we aim to treat another 100,000 in the next decade.
Our project will improve the health and well-being of children, adults, and the elderly in this area over the next 10 years.
