On 27th May Nafsi Hub which is the Mental Health and psycho social support service unit of Vijana Amani Pamoja hosted a community webinar with theme of ‘Empowering Women’s Minds and Voices’. The webinar was in tandem with the month of May which is globally known for celebrating Mental Health and creating its awareness.
The meeting which was attended by over 150 participants mostly girls and women aged above 16 years, young mothers, survivors of trauma, counselors and those who were passionate about women empowerment tackled various mental health topics which are very core to the lives of girls and young women.
The meeting was led by various seasoned counselors, and psychologists from VAP’s Nafsi Hub unit with guest Psychologist Dr. Susan who led critical sessions on mental health, trauma recovery, etc. The meeting opened up candid and open discussions from the panelists and participants with questions coming from participants on matters mental health that are affecting their lives, the lives of their loved ones and the general community. “I have been grappling with mental issues ever since I gave birth at an early age, but this webinar has been of great help and healing to me.I have learnt a lot from the panelists and my fellow participants and I have just gained the confidence and the self-esteem to bounce back to my normal live” Said 19 years Wangari.
