Dear Friend,
Thank you very much for your support to our project promoting sanitation and food security in Mindanao. We are happy to report that we have made inroads in project implementation because of your support and the support of local donors. Sanitation and food security are two basic and much-needed intervention in poor villages and we need to scale-up our efforts. With the looming El Nino, we focused our attention to training local farmers so that they produce their own organic fertilizer and in so doing become sustainable and self-reliant. The price of commercial fertilizer is sky high because of low supply and we need to produce our own. This reporting period we are able to train 120 farmers on how to produce organic fertilizer. We will provide them with basic inputs such as vegetable seeds when they start their farming activities. Again thank you very much.

Dear Friend,
Thank you very much for your continuing support to our project providing food and sanitation services to poor communities. Food and sanitation go hand in hand and this is a big task for us. The challenge of food security and the provision of adequate sanitation to poor communities need the support of all sectors in the community and during this reporting period we continue the conduct of training and education among our beneficiaries. It is better now because we can do face to face interactions compared to before. We were able to conduct 2 trainings during this period with 120 beneficiaries. Again thank you very much.

Dear Friend,
Warmest greetings and thank you very much for your support to our project providing food security and sanitation in Mindanao. In previous reports, we have focused our work in sanitation like providing latrines for poor families as well as developing water systems in far-flung areas. Our sanitation initiatives have been paused due to the Covid-19 problem and because food security has taken center stage in our work, being the most needed by the villages we are working with. This reporting period, we have shifted our effort to also include sanitation especially the building of toilets for very poor families in order to prevent the spread of diseases in the area. We champion water-based toilets as well as what we call "tree toilet" or one that do not require water and wherein when the pit is full, the farmer will be able to plant in or near it fruit or timber tree. We have started producing toilet bowls which is very much needed during this reporting period. Of course, this work is integrated to our food security initiatives which is on-going. Again thank you very much for supporting us.

Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for your continuing support to our initiative promoting safe sanitation and food security in Mindanao. These 2 projects are indeed very important and they compliment each other with food supply needed for well-being and safe sanitation needed in order to improve health in the communities. Toilets are expensive to build and so we continue to promote our design of simple yet scientific toilet system that poor farmers can easily implement using most of materials found in their own localities. This is very important because of the need to use local resources in order to be sustainable. We promoted this type to 3 villages and 12 farmers during this period thanks to local supporters who provided us with the means to do this. Thanks so much for your kindness and generosity.

Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our initiative providing food supply and sanitation to poor communities. We are in trying times as food and sanitation situation in our villages is exacerbated by the problem caused by massive changes in climate resulting to severe and more frequent weather disturbances. We are suffering from frequent and major storms and coping is becoming a challenge especially for poor, vulnerable communities. This reporting period we focus our attention to the promotion of small food gardens that poor families can get their supply of nutrition, food and income. We enjoin them to use local available materials in this manner. We are providing seeds and technical support. We were able to support 53 families in this manner. Hoping for your continuing help. Thank you very much.
Very sincerely yours,
Cesario Sayre
